The President
Jacques SANTER, Honorary Minister of State
Doctor of Law 1961, he had many national responsibilities such as Prime Minister, Minister of State (1984-1995), Minister of Finance and Treasury (1984-1995), Minister of Cultural Affairs (1989-1995)
Minister of Finance, Labour and Social Security (1979-1984), Secretary of State for Labour and Culture (1972-1974).
Moreover, he is well known for his European commitment as President of the European Commission (1995-1999), Member of the European Parliament (1974-1979 and 1999-2004),Vice-President of the European Parliament (1975-1977), Representative of the Prime Minister at the European Convention on the Future of Europe (2002-2003).
As politician, he was President of the Christian Social Party (PCS-CSV) from 1974-1982, Secretary General of the Party (1972-1974), President of the European People’s Party (EPP) 1987-1990, President of the Supervisory Commission of Christian Trade Unions (1969-1972).
Last but not least, he has or had many responsibilities such as:
- President of the Robert Schuman Foundation since 2003;
- President of the Academy of European Law (ERA) in Trier (2000-2021);
- President of the SME Union (SME-Union) Brussels;
- President of the FME (Fondation Mérite Européen) until 2022.
The Secretary General
Frédéric MIQUEL, retired French army officer, Armour branch (from platoon leader to tank battalion commander), 11 years in Germany (mainly within French German Brigade and liaison officer in Bonn Logistics and Cyber Cmd).
He has an international education : gratuated from ST CYR in 1991, German Command and Staff College (LGAN 2004-2006), NATO Defense College 2014 and IHEDN 2021.
Moreover, he has an important overseas experience UN (UNPROFOR in Croatia 1994), NATO (ISAF in Kabul 2004 and COS TFMN in Kosovo 2010), EU (EUTM Somalia as deputy cder in Uganda 2012) and national (chief J5 in IVoiry Coast 2008). And he did a world tour : Russia, Japan, UAE, Lebannon, USA, UK, resumed in his book “patrouilles lointaines”.
Last but not least, he served in operational and organic staffs : Army staff, Land forces command (in charge of planning, deploying Serval Op 2013 and Sentinelle Op in 2015 and 2016) and in Metz (regional joint command).
He is consultant in security and defense in Luxembourg, member of IHEDN Luxembourg and president of the French Officers Society.
